Grooms Father Speech – How to Write a Meaningful One

Aside from the best man and father of the bride speech, the grooms father speech is one of the highlights of the occasion.  If you are the Father of the Groom, you will be expected to deliver a speech so it’s best to prepare for it ahead of time.  In this article, let us discuss some tips on how you can write a meaningful Wedding Speech for your son and his bride.

Before writing down your speech, you can first create an outline to determine the things that you want to say.  For example, what particular story or anecdote would you like to share?  What specific advice would you like to give to the couple?  What message would you like to give to your daughter-in-law to welcome her to your family?  Do you have anything to say to her parents?

Although you will want to speak from your heart, one of the most important things to remember when creating a grooms father speech is to consider other people’s feelings.  Be very careful about the things you say.  See to it that you don’t make any type of remark that will upset or hurt anyone present on that occasion. Make sure that everyone in the room who will be listening to your speech will feel uplifted, inspired and happy.

Remember that this is the newly wed’s day. Since it is their wedding, everything on that day should be about them.  Thus, don’t try to turn your speech into a sermon or a public address.  Although you don’t want a very, very short speech, you don’t want to make it too long to the point that it will bore everyone to sleep.  Also, it is always recommended to include humor in wedding speeches as it is the best way to interact with your audience.

Once you’re finished writing your speech, read it out loud so you can personally hear which parts can be omitted or which sentences need to be rephrased.  It is a good idea to ask someone like your wife or friend to listen as you read it and perhaps ask them for suggestions as well.
